In September 2014, No More Deaths volunteers said farewell to longtime volunteer and supporter Cyril Barrett. Chances are if you volunteered with No More Deaths in 2006–2008 you met and worked alongside Cyril, who was instrumental in building No More Deaths’s desert work and Agua Prieta work. You may also know his voice from the Border Songs album, which features his heartfelt song “Coyotes of Sasabe.”
You may not know that many of Cyril’s closest musical friends have compiled a memorial tribute CD, The Banks of the Ship Canal. This stunning compilation features remarkable musicians performing Cyril’s work, and 75 percent of the proceeds benefit No More Deaths. Cyril was a “musician’s musician” and this magnificent CD features his poetry and composition beautifully.
You can purchase this limited-edition CD from Heathen Call.
Some of the unique elements of the CD are highlighted in the following video.
