NMD to Put Water on Refuge
As temperatures are expected to reach 110-degrees in southern Arizona this weekend, a group of humanitarian volunteers left this morning to place jugs of water on migrant trails that cross the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.

Open Letter to Buenos Aires and Department of the Interior
With this letter we request a meeting between Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge (BANWR) officials, the Department of the Interior and humanitarian, human rights, environmental and faith organizations to take place no later than two weeks from today’s date, in order to discuss ways that we can cooperate to prevent additional death and suffering on the U.S. / Mexico border and the federal lands it transects.

Volunteer on Weekends This Summer
You don't have to take a week off of work to be a No More Deaths volunteer! We now have a weekend volunteer program, as part of our summer 2009 volunteer program. All you have to do is give us at least three weekends of your summer: one to get trained, two to work in the field alongside experienced local volunteers and full-time temporary volunteers. Fill out an application by Monday to start training on Saturday!
 
Litter or Life? Letters of Support and Media Hits
No More Deaths has been receiving a steady stream of emails and phone calls in support of Walt Staton and Dan Millis—two volunteers who have both been found guilty of littering after putting water out for migrants. We are working on setting up a letter writing campaign, more details will be published soon.

Sixth Summer of Humanitarian Work Underway
walt_and_lisa_garbage_tOn June 7, an opening ceremony and potluck dinner marked the beginning of another summer of humanitarian work in the deserts of southern Arizona. Newly trained volunteers joined with seasoned No More Deaths coordinators and trail walkers to put out water and look for people in distress.
