Assembly-Line Injustice: Operation Streamline
Operation Streamline is one of the key components of the United States policy of “deterrence” of unauthorized immigration.  Unlike border militarization, it requires the active cooperation and participation of the US Department of Justice.  Like the militarization of the border, there are serious questions about its legality.

Around-the-Clock Abuse Doc Campaign
We are organizing a week of action to collect and report on the experiences of every person passing through BP custody between November 15th and November 23rd. Our data, our report, and the BP's lies will be documented and presented to the incoming administration. We will demand that the US respect human rights and put the US on notice that we will not be silent in the face of their violation. Please join us for one or more days during that week... we will be meeting each bus and van as it arrives at the DeConcini or Mariposa ports and briefly interviewing every individual, using our short documentation form.  We hope to collect the custody-treatment stories of as many as 5000 persons during the nine-day period. (We will be working in concert with our Mexican partners and will also be providing food, first aid, information and other services to the repatriated migrants)

US District Court Upholds Conviction of Humanitarian
water jugTucson, AZ- An appeal of a littering conviction was denied on March 19 after oral arguments were heard ten days before.  Dan Millis, a volunteer with the border humanitarian aid group No More Deaths, has already filed to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to contest the ruling.

Millis was issued the citation in February of 2008 while putting water on remote migrant trails in the southern Arizona desert.  He and three other volunteers were confronted by law enforcement officers of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service while on the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge.  The officers issued a littering citation despite the five milk crates full of trash that the volunteers had picked up.
